The LNAT Consortium doesn't publish past papers, the papers candidates actually sat. What it does publish is a small set of official practice materials:
| Official resource | What it is |
|---|---|
| Online tutorial | Shows how the on-screen test works. Do it before anything else. |
| Online sample test | An on-screen simulation of the LNAT that runs in your browser. You can take it as often as you like, but the questions stay the same. |
| Practice papers 1 and 2 | Two complete papers to download and work through, written in 2010. The answers are in the marking scheme. |
| Commentary | Explains the reasoning behind the answers to the practice papers. |
| Marking scheme | The correct answers to the practice papers. |
For Section B, the LNAT website also has sample essays: see its How to prepare pages. Be wary of any site offering “real” or “leaked” LNAT papers: they are not official.
So use the official papers to learn the skills the LNAT tests: finding the main conclusion, spotting what an argument assumes, and judging what follows from it. Don't use them to predict your score. For more detail, see our article on LNAT past papers, and for what the real questions are like, read What LNAT questions are really like.
Learn the on-screen controls first, so they don't cost you time later.
Time yourself strictly and don't pause. It gives you a first idea of where you stand.
Check your reasoning on the questions you got right as well as the ones you got wrong. A lucky guess is still a weakness.
Leave a gap between them to work on what went wrong. Read the commentary for every question you missed or guessed.
Note the type of each question you get wrong and why. Patterns appear quickly. Our error log helps you keep track.
Once you've used the official papers, the best preparation is more full-length papers, timed like the real test and reviewed carefully. Lexcello has 14:

No. The LNAT Consortium doesn't publish the papers candidates actually sat. The official practice materials are an online sample test, two downloadable practice papers, a commentary and a marking scheme, all on the official LNAT website.
The two official practice papers come with a marking scheme (the correct answers) and a commentary explaining the reasoning. Lexcello's 14 full-length practice tests also give an explanation for every answer.
Yes, for building the reasoning skills the LNAT tests. But they date from 2010 and use five answer options, while questions in today's LNAT have four, so your score on them won't translate directly into a real LNAT score.
There's no fixed number. Do the official papers first, then as many full-length timed papers as you can review properly. Reviewing each paper carefully, especially the questions you got right by guessing, is where most of the improvement comes from.
The LNAT has two sections. Section A is 42 multiple-choice questions on argumentative passages, in 95 minutes. Section B is one essay, chosen from three topics, in 40 minutes.
14 LNAT-style questions in 32 minutes. Timed like the real Section A, with your score and explanations for your answers.
